Adductor Tendonitis/Contracture
Adductor tendonitis/contracture is the inflammation or shortening of the tendons of the adductor muscles. These muscles run between the pelvis and the knee. They help in pulling the legs together and stabilizing the pelvis. Adductor tendonitis/contracture is often seen in athletes and may be caused by sports such as horseback riding, gymnastics, football and running. Symptoms include groin pain and swelling. A diagnosis may be made by physical examination and tests including X-rays, ultrasound or MRI. The condition may be treated with rest, pain medication, and physical therapy.
