Arthroscopic Ischial Bursectomy
Bursitis refers to the inflammation and swelling of the bursa. Challenging cases of chronic hip bursitis may warrant a surgery to remove the affected bursae, called a bursectomy. In a traditional bursectomy an incision is made at the hip and the affected bursa is removed. To lower the risk of surgical complications, such as tenderness and trouble with skin healing and shortening the healing period some doctors perform arthroscopic bursectomies.
