Loose Body Shoulder
Loose bodies are small pieces of bone or cartilage trapped within the shoulder joint. They can cause a locking sensation in the joint and can restrict range of motion. Loose bodies can be formed due to sports injuries or trauma. X-rays may be ordered to locate a loose body within the shoulder. Very small loose bodies may not need to be removed and the condition may be treated with anti-inflammatory medication. Larger fragments may require arthroscopic or open surgical removal.
