Multi-Directional Instability

It is a generalized laxity of the shoulder joint with possible hypermobility in multiple directions and joint weakness. It may be caused due to a congenital abnormality or performing repetitive activities. There may be numbness, clicking, and popping sounds in the shoulder. The condition may be diagnosed by physical examination, x-rays, or MRI scans. Minor multidirectional shoulder instability may be treated with physical therapy. In severe cases, surgical stabilization may be necessary.
