Subcoracoid Impingement
Subcoracoid impingement is the compression of tissues of the shoulder joint just below the coracoid process, which is a hook-like bony structure present at the front top portion of the shoulder blade. Symptoms include anterior shoulder pain that may be worsened with certain activities. The condition may be identified by physical exam, diagnostic injections, X-rays, MRI and CT scans. Nonoperative treatments include pain medication, rest, activity modification, physical therapy, and steroid injections. Operative treatments include arthroscopy or open coracoplasty.
